This guide explains how to repair a small tear safely and correctly, helping you extend the lifespan of your inflatable.
When Does an Inflatable Need Repair?
A small repair is usually enough if your inflatable has:
- A tiny puncture or pinhole
- A short tear less than 10 cm (4 inches)
- A leaking seam in a small area
- Minor surface damage caused during transportation or daily use

What You’ll Need
Before starting, prepare the following materials:
- PVC repair patch (same material as the inflatable)
- PVC glue
- Scissors
- Cleaning cloth
- Alcohol or mild cleaner
- Roller or a flat object for pressing
- Marker (optional)
Most inflatable products from Hooplo include a repair kit with matching PVC material and adhesive.
Step 1: Deflate the Inflatable Completely
Turn off the blower and allow all air to escape.
Place the inflatable on a clean, flat surface so the damaged area is easy to reach.
Step 2: Clean the Damaged Area
Remove dust, dirt, moisture, or grease from both the tear and the surrounding surface.
A clean surface ensures the adhesive bonds properly.
Allow the area to dry completely before applying glue.
Step 3: Prepare the Repair Patch
Cut a patch that extends at least 2–3 cm beyond the damaged area on all sides.
Round the corners of the patch instead of leaving sharp edges. Rounded corners are less likely to peel over time.
Step 4: Apply PVC Glue
Apply a thin, even layer of PVC glue to both:
- The repair patch
- The damaged area
Wait several minutes until the adhesive becomes slightly tacky, following the instructions provided with the glue.
Step 5: Attach the Patch
Carefully place the patch over the tear.
Press firmly from the center outward to remove any trapped air bubbles.
Use a roller or another flat object to apply even pressure across the entire patch.
Step 6: Allow the Adhesive to Cure
Leave the repaired area untouched until the glue has fully cured.
Depending on the adhesive, curing usually takes between 12 and 24 hours.
Avoid inflating the product before the adhesive has completely hardened.
Step 7: Test the Repair
Inflate the product slowly.
Check the repaired area carefully to ensure there is no air leakage.
If necessary, apply additional pressure or repeat the repair with a larger patch.
Tips for a Longer Repair Life
To keep your inflatable in excellent condition:
- Store the inflatable dry and clean.
- Avoid dragging it across rough surfaces.
- Keep sharp objects away from the play area.
- Perform regular inspections before each use.
- Repair small damage as soon as it is discovered.
Early repairs are much easier than fixing larger tears later.
